Guinness World Record Attempt

The charity was given the amazing opportunity to attempt to become a Guinness World RecordsMaker for the most money raised for charity through SMS texting in 24 hours”. The 24 hours ran from 2.00pm on 23rd October through until 1.59pm the next day. In spite of the great effort made by many supporters, it was not possible to reach the high target set by Guinness of £100,000.

However, in the final report by the York Press, (please click on the link below for the full article) the charity gained valuable funds for research as well as many other fantastic contacts and offers:

National Three Peaks Challenge

Ten of Guy’s closest friends decided to challenge themselves to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours to mark the 10 years since Guy left us all.  Sadly, Billy was not able to return from America in time so there were nine and the all important guide Geoff who was vital to the expedition.

To mark “10 Years On” this annual event held at Pool Bridge Farm became a BrewFest with 10 Guest Beers and 4 Ciders, a Hog Roast, all with live music from  Grinny Grandad, Nicky Humberside and Ish Herd. A few well-known “Yorkshire Sports” were played including Welly Wanging, Splat the Rat, throwing beer barrels backwards at posters of celebs and testing both golfing and goal scoring skills.

Andy said:  “Among so many other things Guy was the chap who had the misfortune of sitting next to me in Biology for a while (it didn't take him long to move). Since his life was tragically cut short he has had so many of his wonderful friends raising money for the charity founded by him. So I thought it was about time I got off my behind and did something too. I don't do this very often.

Guy’s father, Mike Francis, who is not normally know for enjoying outside activities,  took on a massive personal challenge when he signed up for the inaugural Jane Tomlinson Walk, choosing to do the 14 mile / half marathon route starting in Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. He was accompanied by Lucinda - Guy’s sister, as well as her husband Matt and for part of the route by Guy’s Mum Ros.
